Art and Societies

Dr. Kubilay Akman

Art is always one of the most influential sectors in the societies. The power of images, words and works of art could be stronger than anything else in the society. When we look at through this perspective, the artists are responsible of what they do or do not do. Art is a palace, a refuge, a prison, heaven or hell every now and then. I am sure that readers or artists could match these pretty abstract words with the right samples from their own life experiences or from the art history.

While art has a valuable position in societies, every institution and individual should ask to themselves, whether they do their best for progression of the art world. Actually, as EuroArt we are the biggest critic of us. We always criticize EuroArt and try to make better if anything is going wrong. In this process, the feed-backs of the reader and the artist are the most valuable. We are keeping on correcting our route through an effective communication with readers and international artists. However, something should be kept in mind: EuroArt is surviving in Turkey, without any support from any official or non-official institution, without sponsors and just with the voluntary work of its staff. Normally, a project like this would be supposed to finish soon as a disappointment. But EuroArt has showed that it is a successful project and will go on growing in the future as well. Our correspondents are in Europe and America and they are involving in more with the local art scenes.

The next step of EuroArt is to turn it into a printed magazine while keeping the online version. In a couple of years EuroArt will be one of the significant art magazines as a collective achievement.
